Spice Drops Are Even More Addicting Than Dots!

Spice Drops also known as Gum Drops are a long time favorite and one of the older candies still available.

Sharability: 10 Denture Danger: 9 Convenience: 4 Novelty: 6 Overall: 9 These minty little gumdrops covered in shards of sugar crystals do not hold the density of other spice drops I have eaten. These spice drops are one of those candies with that perfect soft, chewy consistency. The spice drop flavors are sweet and all carry a mild kick of spice depending on the color you choose. No fruity flavors in this batch, spice drops are names as they are for a reason. I remember writing a blog a bit ago about how Dots candy is utterly addicting. It must be something to do with the gum drop candy because these spice drops are even more addicting than Dots; they’ll have you eating lots!

Spice Drops and Gum Drops are NOT THE SAME THING. Saying they are is no different than saying that blackberry pie and apple pie are the same. Spice drops are, SURPRISE!, SPICY. Gum drops are bland, overly sweet, imitation fruit flavors. Too very different things.

I have no memory as to when I found Spice Drops. Just seems to have always been there.

In the past it used to irritate me that the flavor mixing for each color was not consistent. Especially the "yellows"! Sometimes you would get one that would almost make your eyes cross. Then the rest seemed mild. So I had to change my thinking to “hope I find an eye crosser”.

I have introduced my two year old grandson to the joys of Spice Drops. The first place he heads for is the candy dish for his "TWO". I can tell when he gets a "hot" yellow but he just keeps on chewing! Just hope the candy last for his generation.
