Candy has been known to feed imaginations for decades, especially for children.
The candy world was changed forever when the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie came out in 1971.
Along with the movie came candies manufactured under the Willy Wonka candy name, such as Nerds, Gobstoppers, and Laffy Taffy.
While those candies are still in production, they are no longer sold under the Wonka name. However, the Wonka legacy lives on through its story, movies, and contributions to the candy industry and children's imaginations.
A local summer camp in Pittsburgh, Winchester Thurston School Summer Camp, recently featured a camp for young children about Willy Wonka. Throughout the week, there were fun activities focused on chocolate, imagination, and creativity.
To make the kid's week extra sweet, CandyFavorites.com donated bags of candy focused on the theme of fun candies that encourage children's creativity. Each bag was decorated in the theme of Willy Wonka's infamous golden ticket and filled with delicious sweets.
Inside the bags were Satellite Wafers, Nerds Gummy Clusters, Twix Cookie Dough Bars, Nerds Rope, Pop Rocks Crackling Gum, Chewy Lemonheads Fruit Mix, Caramel Tootsie Pops, Gummy Fruit Slices, Smarties, and Tiger Pops
These candies were made imaginatively, just like Willy Wonka made all his sweets. While we may not give out golden tickets, we love encouraging the link between candy and imagination, as Willy Wonka did.
