I remember a candy from the early 70s, that had animal shapes, and was in different colors/flavors. Dark brown was chocolate, I believe. And I believe there was a yellow/banana. They were chewy, almost like Tootsie Rolls, but a bit less so. Do you know what they were called?

I can't recall the name but I remember this product. Like so many candies, these were discontinued and exist only in sweet memories. For a list of Discontinued Products, please go to https://www.candyfavorites.com/pages/discontinued-candies

Sadly, Maple Nut Goodies were discontinued by the manufacturer along with so many other delightful Brach's product. We too wish they would come back!

Trying to find a company that still sells Maplenut Goodies. I found a number 45078 but can't find the candy.

Re: Chum Gum. My brother and I would collect pop bottles in the 50's and early 60's. We would drag our wagon all over town!!! You could get a package of 3-5 pieces for 1 cent. A regular size bottle was good for 2 cents. So if we could find a few pop bottles we had us good in candy for several days. King size bottles were worth 5 cents!!!! We were in heaven when we found those....

Yes I am old!!!!

So many candies of yesteryear have disappeared and it is doconcerting. The good news is that memories remain.

Certs. Cinnamon and spearmint, especially. These mints were more that a breath mint, they were an institution. Everyone I talk to has a memory of eating certs with their grandparents or a great aunt/uncle. We miss the memories that are brought back with the familiar smell and taste.

Please bring them back. My grandparents have passed on and I would love to be able to relive memories of cinnamon certs with my grandmother.

In addition to that, we also love the Brachs cinnamon tree nougats for the same reason. Bought them every year.

I am disappointed in Cadbury.

We have a novelty candy store in New Hope, Pennsylvania. I believe many of the candy requests are sold there, my girlfriend enjoys Necco wafers, which they stock in many flavors.

Also, a similar store in Gettysburg Pa sells these old-time treats.

In the 1940s I used to buy penny candy. No one remembers these. I bought a tiny metal tin pie and it came with a teenie metal spoon. The pie itself was pink, I think. Have you ever heard of these. I think it came in clear plastic candy wrapper.

The candy they make now sucks. When I was a child the candy bars were large and worth the money. The candy bars they make now are so small and do not taste as good. Some of my old time favorites are Powerhouse, Big Time, Hollywood, Milkshake and Butternut. This candy now days cost almost $200 a bar and is not worth the cost. It's a shame no candy company has the recipes for the best candy there ever was. You can still order the Long Coconut boys and Squirrel Zippers online. CandyFavorites sells the Long Coconut Boys, Squirrel Nut Zippers and I think the original Mary Jane Candy

Peppermint chews. Anybody remember these? A hard candy that becomes soft like taffy upon chewing. Impossible to find anywhere. Used to love them!

Jonah Half

October 22, 2024
Sadly, they have been discontinued as they were part of the NECCO line that disappeared when the company went bankrupt. A great piece of candy indeed!

Are squirrel nut still produced?

The last time I bought them was around 2018.

Hi, I got married in 2005. My wife and I were able to enjoy a couple of packages of "Brach's Red Twists" shortly after that. I enjoyed them when I was a kid from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. So, it was very odd to me that after I had not had any Brachs Red Twists for several years had even forgot about them that I was at a Speedway Gas Station on the South Side of Bloomington, Indiana. Really the last Gas station in Bloomington, IN on South Walnut before you get to Highway 37/69. I hadn't actually thought about them for a long time and found one bag hanging up. It was actually the middle of my work day as a door to door salesman and I was stopping to get gas. So, even more strangely when I got up to the cashier to pay for my Gas and the Red Twists I asked the male cashier behind the counter if/when they would get more of the Red Twists in. This man started yelling at me for casually asking if/when they would get a reorder of this product. I mean there was really absolutely no reason for this response and I have never had an experience like that at a gas station before or since that one time. He was yelling that "No! we will never get or have those in again" or something to that effect. Which was totally bizarre and is why I still remember it 16 years later like it happened yesterday. So I brought these Brach's Red Twist and shared them with my wife. She liked them so much that was spent that evening driving to different gas stations to find this product and after a few hours of driving around found two more packages at a Huck's in Orleans, Indiana. So a few weeks or few months later I asked her to check online and see if she could order a case of these directly from Brach's. She did that and explained that they had been discontinued. A few years later I did more extensive research and found out that someone in another country like Switzerland or France or Somewhere over there purchased the recipe for Brach's Red Twist and is just sitting on it. The reason I am writing you is because for the past 16 years I've been eating Twizzlers or Red Vines and they are awful. They are no where near the quality of texture and taste that were the Brach's Red Twist. The Red Licorice that is on the American Market at most convenient stores is beyond horrible. I emailed you guys back when I did my initial research and never heard

There's never been a candy bar like the 10:30 before or since. It was and still is unique and indescribably delicious. If a macaron and a rice krispies treat had a nougat filled and white chocolate enrobed baby with a colorful pink and purple white chocolate drizzle that would be pretty darn close!

It's hard to love when you know that if you love they may be discontinued.

My other favorite is Sun Drops from Trader Joe's, candy coated chocolate dipped sunflower seeds.

I know that not many people remember the 10:30 bar, but those of us who do remember miss it still.

I miss Bonkers. They were soft like Starburst and they featured an inner flavor and an outer flavor. The commercial used to feature fruit falling throug the ceiling and landing on people making them go bonkers.

I am missing one of my all-time favorite candies. I think they were called Kentucky Mints, and I believe they were made by Brach's. They were a white mint with a green "jelly" center. Are they still around anywhere? My grandparents always had a candy dish in the living room with those mints in abundant supply, and Grandpa Lewis always had a pack of Blackjack Gum and Beemans Gum for the grandkids when we came over.

I truly miss the Caramel Chocolate covered Pom Poms of so long ago. I loved eating them with my popcorn at the theater - Nothing seems to come close to these. Anyone have any ideas of anything that would? I tried Jr Caramels but they are not the same - they are too soft and gooey and Milk Duds are too hard LOL

When I was a young girl in the sixties and early seventies there was a hard candy (much like the jolly ranchers of today) called twists. Does anyone besides me remember these candies?

Charles Eldredge

October 22, 2024
I'm trying to remember the name of a candy from the past. They were clear squares with bubble gum in the center each individually wrapped in clear cellophane. And about 10-12 came in a little rectangular pack with a paper wrapper with the name on it. They may have been a Charms product, the company who makes Blowpops.. The packaging was very similar to Charms Squares which were fruit flavored squares, but no gum in them. I remember then from the 60's. They disappeared quite a long time ago.

Did anyone know the name of these candies?

I just discovered a new product...Blowpop Minis....disk shaped fruit flavored candy(same flavors as original Blowpops) with gum in the center. I haven't had them yet. I should be able to find them today.

I really miss the best gum ever made, Sugar Free Bubble Yum Bubble Gum Peppermint. My last research showed that the Wrigley's division of Mars owns the recipe but is not producing it unfortunately.

Wacky Wafers! I miss those candy crackers. I still can get Bottle Caps, Laffy Taffy, Now N Laters, Sprees, Nerds and Sweet Tarts. I have wanted some Wacky Wafers for quite some time now. The last time I remember even seeing the name on anything was about 12 years ago for Easter. They company had Wacky Wafer candy bags with little bunnies, eggs, and Easter basket shaped Wafers. I loved them. But the original wafers, there is no comparison to them

Sadly, these were discontinued many moons ago. We still offer the Maple Nut goodies but no other varieties are available. Brach's discontinued so many of their classic candies over the years but many of the classics still remain and hopefully will remain for quite some time.

The big size was our favorite too but the manufacturer reduced the size a few years ago. As to why we are not sure but we do address this in one of our web pages dealing with changing products. Take a peak at https://legacy.candyfavorites.com/candy-flavor-memories

Pond Scum was one of our favorite products and one of the coolest novelties that we sold. It was a marvelous combination of whimsy and cuteness and sold really well. Unfortunately, it is no longer available as it was discontinued. As to why, we are not sure...

Jonah Half

October 22, 2024
Gosh, that's a candy from the past. I do remember them and, sadly, they haven't been around for many years. Like so many really cool products from the past, these most likely are gone for good.

Jonah Half

October 22, 2024
Mint Juleps and Banana Splits were both made by NECCO who, sadly, went out of business. Almost everyone is sold out of these products and any that would remain would be expired. Hopefully, someone will purchase the rights to these iconic treats. In the interim, why not share your memories of a favorite NECCO product. Here's a link to a section of our blog that deals with exactly that - https://legacy.candyfavorites.com/blog/is-it-really-goodbye-necco-may-close-its-doors/

Sadly, Chiclets were permanently discontinued in 2018 and no mention has been made as to whether they will ever return. They were classic chewing gum and are missed!

Every company is out of stock of mint juleps. Why?

Jonah Half

October 22, 2024
Mint Juleps were made by NECCO who went out of business in 2019 even though they were one of the oldest candy manufacturers! As to whether they sold the formula for Mint Juleps remains to be seen. Along with Banana Splits, they were true classics! As for Christmas Hard Candy Mix, we are currently sold out but expect to see them next year!

Wish I could offer a better answer and haven't seen this product in many years. I do remember it and it was quite cute.

Hi, I am in Florence SC, and would Ike to find some of these new Unicorn Candy Corn in fruit flavors. Already been to Walmart, Target, and several grocery chains, no one has them. Several years ago a similar item was made by Starburst in candy corn flavors, much like yours appear to be. They no longer make them. Look forward to hearing from you and trying these Unicorn flavored corns. Best Wishes, Albert Baroody

My mother packed chocolates, like Lucile Ball, in the factory in Kendall Square Cambridge Mass. In the 1920s Sorry to see them go. I am interested in mint juleps and Christmas hard mix. I see you are out of both. Is this a temporary thing?'

Hi, I am looking for Chiclets. When my grandaughters lose teeth, we call them chiclets! One of my grandaughters has taken on the nickname of chiclet. She moved to Scotland recently and is missing teeth like crazy, so I wanted to send her some replacement "chicklets" but can't find them anywhere??

For years I have been on the lookout for two types of candies from Brach's. One I believe was called Lollydrops. They were oval in shape, had clear wrappers, and were fruit flavored. The colors were red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. The other candy I have looked for were watermelon flavored, oval shaped, were light pink in color, and came in a clear wrapper with a white checkered pattern at the edges. Both of these types of candies came in a bag holding multiple candies. Do you know where I could find them or do you have the ability to obtain them if they still exist somewhere? Thank you for your time. If you happen to know anything about what candies I speak of, please do not hesitate to contact me!

altoids Tangerine sours.

when i was younger, my adoptive father would always take me to get my hair cut at this really just awful barbers salon. i hated it, the barber apparently didnt know how to do any other trim than a god awful bowl cut. in order to get me int othe chair, he would coax me with either an Altoid or a Cert Spearmint. I hadnt thought about it much until a friend of mine brought up iconic candies from childhood and a quick search online trying to buy a tin of altoids left me feeling.... empty. they were fantastic and the start to my love of sour candies, and theyre gone. im not a member of this site, i dont really have a sweet tooth or anything, but sour candies have gotten me through a lot. Altoids more than most. theres an emty spot in me. theres a spot in me from my childhood that i wont taste or relive again. anyway, just wanted to share.

I am looking for a candy from my youth called Pond Scum. Is this something that is still available to get? If not, you should find the recipe and redistribute it! I think it would be a big hit (with potty-based humour at an all-time high with kids).

Hi, years ago, there was a candy by Brachs called chocolate nut goodies. It was the same candy as their maple nut goodies, only with chocolate on the outside instead of maple. Do you know if they still make them, and if so, how I could get some?

I loved Hollyywood candy bars My mom would buy me a When the Milky Way Midnights came out they were similar but not quite the same. With the popularity of dark chocolate I would think that the Hollywood Candy Bar would have a huge following now Can't some company get the recipe and please bring it back. I was and still would be my favorite. I found a box on Ebay from the 50's, but could not imagine eating something that old.lol. Does anyone know of anywhere that these retro bars can be found? Thanks, Candy

Certs and my first granddaughter.

I used certs to help me quit smoking, I always carried a roll of speartment in my shirt pocket. When she was old enough she'd reach in my pocket and ask for one.

As time passed she reach in and take the roll, all it did was put a smile on our faces.

At her 2nd birthday party I gave her a present with no name on it, but I had a certs setting on top, she looked at it and came up to me and said thanks for the present.

Certs I miss you but I have tons of memories.

Thanks go them

Bring back Sqeeze pops, Gatorgum, and especially Whistle pops. You only gave Gatorade Gum 4 years before discontinuing it. Whistle pops didn't last much longer. And Sqeeze pops only lasted three years. I don't think any of these products were marketed as well as they could have been. You have to advertise your product. Bring these back and with proper marketing they will be successful. I miss gator gum so much. I was lacking money as a child so I only got to enjoy these products a handful of times. Now Im grown and have the cash to buy these products in quantity. You dont make them anymore. Its tragic!!! Bring nack our childhood memories.

When I was a kid, my favorite candy bars were Milkshake candy bars and Marathon bars. My sister and I would get Milkshake candy bars at Hoyt Pool near Milwaukee, and sometimes we would get them frozen and wow, were they amazing. We used to get Marathon bars up at the store at the Dells Camp Resort just outside of Wisconsin Dells. My mouth is watering just thinking of those. Great memories.

Wacky Wafers are not on your list.

My dad took us to this candy factory in Detroit, MI once or twice a month. I was engaged and my fiancé was in the Air Force. Every time we went I got him a case of something and mailed it to him. A case of Wacky Wafers given to his TA got him home for our wedding. That was August 7, 1987.

I considered, and then did write to you, earlier this evening, about a older butterscotch & coconut based candy that I'm still looking for, using a different type of "tell us what you want" form , different than this one, on this - your website. Might have been associated with the "discontinued candy" section. In the first, or second paragraph, I said that what I was looking for (and believe that may be discontinued- - whatever it's name was...) may have at one time been called "chicken bones". Well... I looked that name up, shortly after writing to you, Quickly discovered that "Chicken Bones* are still in production (somewhere), and doesn't fit the lengthy description I gave for the product I'm in search of, at all !! In fact, I realized that I have had "chicken bones" candy; and while it does include coconut, there is also a peanut butter inclusion. And what I'm in search of does not have that. Thought I needed to quickly write you back, and indicate my suppositional error. I also came across "Dem Bones", which are no longer in production, as an older Brachs item. They are/were "sweet-tart kind of candy. So, no luck there either What I am in search of is probably something that is no longer in production, anywhere, by anybody. Could be the case If so, then it would just be nice to know what is was called way back when

I have been looking for chum gum to get for my brother. As kids we loved it. We would get a couple of pennies and walk about a half mile to buy some. For the longest time I could buy it at a shop in my hometown of Kenosha , WI. Wish someone would bring it back.

I miss the brown jelly bean Brach's used to make. It must have been true cinnamon. Not the artificial stuff they call cinnamon now, but actual ground cinnamon. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I was little back then, and it's what I had imagined it was. But they were GOOD!

Hi Noon candy bars were my favorite candy back in the mid fifties. At the local record hop at the American Legion I always bought at least one bar and sometimes two. I have looked everywhere including retro candy shops and couldn't find them. I miss them more than any food product. As a Marine and later Army Officer I travelled the world but always keeping an eye out. I am so sad today in 2016 of finding out that they were discontinued. Thanks so much for the candy you supply and the website. I retired as a pastor.

For years I have been searching for this stick bubble gum called "Chum Gum". I last had it around 1971-72 and purchased it in a little Mom & Pop store off the Fellsway in Medford, MA. It came in a 5-stick pack that was white with the words "Chum Gum" in Navy Blue with some red highlights on the pack. The gum itself was Hot Pink in color and had the most unique flavor. It was like nothing else I've ever tasted and was delicious! Anyone out there who remembers this product, or where it might be still available?

General Question about discontinued candy. Naturally, some discontinued candy brings back memories, but getting beyond the obvious I'd like to ask why are they discontinued - is it sales, is it ingredients? I know in some cases companies take over other companies and maybe the new company's equipment is not geared towards making a candy.
