This Summer has treated me pretty darn good, and I hope all of you are reading this can say the same. Now, August is in full swing, and I can’t help but feel like August is the Sunday of summer. June is the Friday, where everyone goes super hard because they are excited the weekend is beginning. Then July comes, and it’s time for sitting outside in the sun all day, relaxing and then taking the night by storm. So now here we are in August, where you enjoy your day, but there are still those “Sunday scaries” in the back of your head that the work week starts tomorrow.
But let’s not get hung up on the end of summer because we still have a lot more to enjoy. The pools are still open, the sun is still out, and the temperature is still hot. So while we still have time to sit by the pool, I thought I would share my top 5 candies to enjoy by the pool. I’ll admit, sometimes candy isn’t always the best pool snack; it’s wet, things get sticky, I get it. These 5 candies, though, will keep you clean and let you enjoy your pool day with ease.
First up, we have Wax Bottles. This may not seem like an obvious choice since wax melts in the heat, but I beg to differ. Any candy you can bite the top off of and then squeeze into your mouth is a perfect candidate to be enjoyed by the pool. These fruit juice-filled bottles will pair perfectly with a hot day; just make sure you keep them in the shade or next to a cool beverage…
Next, we take lollipops without the outer wrapper sticking to the candy and with no hassle of stick disposal. Push Pops are a great candy choice to enjoy by the pool. These fruity pops come in their own plastic container that allows for no sticky mess, plus you can take a lick then put the cap back on to save for later. No mess and no chance of getting wet equal great pool candy. I would personally suggest the blue raspberry flavor.
Coming in at number 3 is Gummi Sour Neon Worms, another unconventional pool snack I know, but hear me out. These fruity, tart little worms are the perfect stimulation your tastebuds need to keep you going for the rest of the day. When eaten carefully and made sure not to get wet, you will have just the right amount of sugar to keep your energy up and can do as many front flips off the diving board as you want. And when it comes to the battle of which worm is best…it’s blue and orange.
As we near the end of our countdown, I have to mention a candy that I have been eating every summer for as long as I can remember. The number 4 pick here is AirHeads. Keep your fingers on the wrapper and slide up the chewy candy, and you have a non-sticky situation that is perfect for the pool. The fruity flavors of AirHeads pair wonderfully with the summer heat, and they are just a solid pick me up for a day at the pool! May I suggest the mystery flavor?
And bringing up the rear at number 5 is Koko’s Icee Spray. Yes, you heard me right, Icee Spray. Your first thought might be of the movie theater, but let me persuade you why these little cup replica spray bottles are the best poolside treat. Icee Spray comes in the original cherry and blue raspberry flavors we all know and love, so you are reminded of an ice-cold frozen Icee when sprayed. The fact that this candy is a spray means mess-free, and they come with a cap to keep the pool water out and all the delicious flavor in. Need I say more?
